Velocity is proud to have developed a very successful competitive team that competes both locally and interstate. Being a member of a competition team gives the students more opportunity to perform on stage throughout the year. This can include competitions and community events. Not only does it present the opportunity to perform, but also creates a wonderful team environment amongst the students.

As a member of the Velocity competitive team you must represent our studio with pride and ensure your efforts and behaviour reflects our studio values. Students are expected to practise at home to ensure they know their routines.

Auditions are not required for our competitive teams however inclusion in the team is based on the student’s dedication, technical ability, performance skills, sportsmanship and teamwork qualities. Students will be assessed on their suitability throughout the first week of term 1 each year.

In 2024, Velocity are offering a number of age groups: 6u, 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u & Senior

Age groups are based on a strict age as at 1 January 2024, to align with the majority of competitions. Students under the age of 12 will only compete in one age group.

Students must be enrolled in the prerequisite classes for their age group in order to be eligible for our teams. For 6u prerequisite classes include ballet, jazz and technique. For all older age groups, students must be enrolled in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and technique classes.

From April onwards, we will compete in approximately 1 competition per month. A schedule will be released in early 2024.
